We chose a Fly River Turtle. This is an animal that is featured in their new LAIR (Living Amphibians, Insects, & Reptiles) exhibit.
Artifact created artwork for all four sides of the vehicle.
The hubcaps were non-spinning discs, also known as spinners, which did not turn as the wheels rolled. This gave the illusion that the vehicle was gliding down the road, without the turtle’s fins spinning.
The turtle on the nose of the vehicle had to be drawn extra long to compensate for the angle at which it would be viewed.
We added a bumper sticker that informed other drivers that they had been passed by a turtle.
