Premier Artifact Newsletter

Hello Friends of Artifact Graphics,

Michelle here.

Thanks for signing up for our newsletter.

In this, our first issue, I will introduce you to some of my associates, tell you about current projects, and alert you to new products. Future issues may cover subjects as diverse as business identity, surgical illustrations, avian dinosaurs, and murals.

But First, What Is Artifact Graphics?

Artifact is a group of illustrators and graphic designers who specialize in educational imagery pertaining to the biological sciences.

Our logo is a chimpanzee skull; it is a reference to our emphasis on medical and veterinary artwork.

Our name combines Art and Fact, reflecting what we do.

Introductions

Doc Robin is our figurehead, our behind-the-scenes inspirational force, running the business end of Artifact.

I, Michelle Annette Leveille, create most of the illustrations and much of the graphic design.

Fabulosaurus Lex handles our product marketing. (Here is a link to our blog post about Lex!)

We have a cadre of associates dedicated to printing, fabrication, and delivery. I will highlight individuals in future newsletters.

And Gus cleans the company car. (Here is a link to our blog post about Gus.)

Recent Projects

I was pleased to work with Dr. Nathan Clark at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, creating natural science illustrations of subterranean mammals to accompany his remarkable research findings with these animals.

Here is an African cape golden mole, which possesses adaptations that make it a prime subject for medical studies.

Working at the Los Angeles Zoo, I started a series of interpretive signs about trumpeter swans.

These swans’ clear enunciation is due to their long, twisted trachea, unique among swans.

Also, I am honored to say that my artwork was chosen for the cover of the Winter issue of PittMed magazine

Since it hasn’t been published yet, I’ll just show you an illustration I did for one of their previous issues:

Current Works-In-Progress

I’ve been taking landscape paintings and adding dinosaurs lately.

Here is one I just finished for a nice couple in Riverside, California.

New Products

Have you met the latest Blue-Blooded Dinosaur in our series?

I illustrated Dame Deinonychus based on a vintage portrait of Darya Saltykova, a Russian courtier.

She was considered one of the most learned women in Russia during the time of Catherine the Great.

She promoted the Arts and Sciences.

She was also a cruel serial killer.

Clever girl.

Buy framed Dame Deinonychus and other Blue-Blooded Dinosaur prints in the Artifact Graphics Etsy Store. [Note: Etsy store is closed. Please use our Contact Form to inquire about purchases.]

You can also purchase any of our Blue-Blooded Dinosaurs printed on a variety of products, such as phone cases and blankets, in the Artifact Graphics Society6 Store.

My personal favorite is the Baby Buitreraptor tote bag.

Future Projects

Artifact Graphics has purchased several landscape oil paintings, all of which are lacking in dinosaurs.

We are open to commissions to add your favorite dinosaurs to these paintings for you.

We then ship the paintings to you, ready to frame.

If you live in the Los Angeles area, we can frame and deliver the paintings to you ready to hang.

Here is a blog post about how it works. [Link will be active soon.]

We’d love to hear from you!
